Questars Long Mynd 25: Event Overview

Friday 1 May 2026

The Questars Long Mynd 25 is a 25-hour non-stop adventure race taking place over the weekend of 24–25 October on and around the Long Mynd and wider Shropshire area.

Created to celebrate our 25-year anniversary in a unique way, the event makes full use of the weekend when the clocks go back, giving teams a full 25-hour racing window within a traditional 24-hour period.

Questars Long Mynd 25 is designed as an accessible introduction to longer-format adventure racing, aimed particularly at teams who are new or relatively new to 24-hour events, while still offering enough challenge and route choice to keep more experienced racers engaged.

South Downs

Event Format

Teams will race continuously for up to 25 hours, navigating a multi-stage course featuring a mix of:

  • Trail running and trekking
  • Mountain biking
  • Kayaking
  • Special stages

The course will include approximately 15 stages, with most stages planned to be relatively short. The maximum planned stage length is around four hours for teams following short-course options, although teams collecting additional optional checkpoints may spend longer on some stages.

The race will use a combination of:

  • Mandatory checkpoints, which all teams must visit
  • Optional checkpoints, allowing more experienced/ambitious teams to extend their route and challenge themselves further

This flexible structure means newer teams can focus on a manageable short-course route while still experiencing the key highlights of the event, while experienced teams can aim for a fuller long-course challenge.

Teams

Questars Long Mynd 25 is open to:

  • Teams of Two and Four

Teams of three may be possible by prior arrangement—please contact us before entering if this is of interest.

This event is not open to solo racers, as some stages require a minimum of two participants. Solo entrants interested in taking part are encouraged to get in touch, as we may be able to help pair individuals together.

Location

Registration and initial event logistics will be based in Church Stretton.

The event itself will take place on and around the Long Mynd and surrounding region, with the exact course area remaining undisclosed until race start. Teams should be prepared for a wide-ranging route across the Long Mynd and beyond.

Schedule

Key dates are:

  • Friday 23 October – Registration from 6pm in Church Stretton
  • Saturday 24 October – Race start (approximately 7am)
  • Sunday 25 October – Race finish within each team’s 25-hour window

Accommodation

Dormitory accommodation is available for Friday through Monday allowing competitors flexibility before and after the event weekend and we have options for camping and vanning as well.

Course Style

Unlike our standard events, the Questars Long Mynd 25 will follow a more linear route format, meaning teams may move progressively across the course rather than returning to a central event base.

As a result, competitors should expect:

  • Remote transitions
  • Transition bag logistics
  • Multiple bag-drops across the course

We anticipate using:

  • Two transition bags
  • One optional overnight/rest bag

Further details, including bag dimensions and logistics guidance, will be released closer to the event.

Kit Requirements

We have tried to keep the mandatory kit list as light as possible to make the event as accessible Competitors will need standard Questars mandatory kit plus additional equipment suitable for overnight racing, including:

  • Front and rear bike lights
  • Head torch
  • Full waterproof clothing

A full mandatory and recommended kit list will be released at the end of July.

Timeline

Upcoming milestones:

The race schematic will provide stage distances, estimated durations, and discipline breakdowns, while still preserving route secrecy.
