After five incredible races we finish with five very worthy Series winners! A massive congratulations to Katherina Pedersen, Gary Davies, Liz Jones, Maggie Salter and Nick Gracie for taking home the Series wins and engraving their names onto our Series Winners’ Fingerpost. We’ve looked at the various categories below but first a quick reminder as to how our Series are scored.
Questars Summer Series Championship – a reminder
Our Summer Series Championship covered our five summer races (including our two-day race which counted as two one-day races). Everyone’s top four results counted towards their series score, with a minimum of four races required to be considered for prizes.
Series points are calculated per individual participant / team member. If an individual’s team composition between races changed, their series points are unaffected. Individuals in teams with the same team members throughout the series will gain the same series points and ranking on the series leaderboard.
Race scores are converted into series points and series points from different races are added together for each person, to give their series score.
Series points are calculated by dividing an individual’s race score by the overall race winner’s score and multiplying by 1,000.
An example is shown below:

Calculating series points like this improves consistency throughout the series by minimising the impact of variable conditions between races which are beyond the course planner’s control e.g. the weather.
Vets Scoring – a reminder
Our Vets category starts at 50 and an individual’s score is adjusted above this age with individuals receiving a 1.5% increase for every year that they are over 50. How this works is set out below:

All team members take the age of their oldest team member and ages are taken as of 1 March each year.
Racers are only eligible for one podium spot, so if a racer finishes on the podium in both Vets and non-Vets categories then their higher (or non-Vets) placing takes precedence.
Masters Female
Katherina Pedersen (our reigning Summer Series Champion) had another terrific Series, racing really consistently throughout to take the win with 3,331 points. Pollie Boyle took second spot on the podium with an excellent overall score of 3,038 points. Teammates Serena Howell and Ellie Caple closed out the podium with a great overall score of 2,661 points, doing just enough in the final race to knock Isla Reynolds and Nina Ingham off the podium.

Masters Open
After five incredibly close races, Gary Davies took home the Series win with a terrific 3,585 points. Racing was incredibly close going into the final event with just ten points separating Gary and Nick Gracie in second place. Gary had a terrific final race to take home his first ever Series win with Nick taking home the Vets Series win.
Steve Burnham took second place on the podium with a brilliant 3,544 points (as Nick was excluded due to his Vets podium position) with Tom Hards (three-time Series champion) taking third place overall with an excellent 3,486 points. Ben Hawkins had a terrific first Series to finish just 26 points off the podium in fourth place.

Masters Female Vets
What an incredibly close Series of racing! After five races, Liz Jones and Maggie Salter won the Series by just six points! Despite a terrific final race, Pollie Boyle (our reigning Vets Winter Series champion) couldn’t quite overhaul Liz and Maggie who did just enough to take home their first ever Series win.
Ella Pyman (our reigning Vets Summer Series champion) took second place on the podium with an excellent 2,819 points (as Pollie was excluded due to her podium in the non-Vets category) with Nina Ingham finishing in third place with a brilliant 2,721 points.

Masters Open Vets
Nick Gracie (our reigning Vets Summer and Winter champion) added another Series victory to his name with a terrific Series of racing amassing an excellent adjusted score of 3,756 points. There was a real battle for second place with Kevin Stephens having a fantastic final race of the Series to leapfrog Dave Salter into second place. Kevin finished with 3,676 points to David’s 3,640 points.
