From kayaking along the Greek coast to dog sledding in Norway. Where will you go? What will you do? See what amazing adventure you could have on your next weekend away.

Race Numbers & Kayak Times

Your race number, start time window and kayak timeslot can all be found on the Start List - do make a note of these details - you'll need them on the day. The data for the start list was taken from the entry system last Friday (because of the bank holiday). If you entered after this you may not appear on the start list but don't worry we will be expecting you. Similarly if you have sent us any last minute changes to your entry since Friday then you'll see that these don't appear on the start list - we have collated these and will make the necessary adjustments with EMIT on the day so you are shown correctly on the results.

You can start anytime within your start time window but remember if you are in one of the first or last kayak timeslots you need to allow enough time to get to / back from the kayak transition - approximately 6 km direct (flat) or ~10 km (hilly) via Mt Bike checkpoints (planner's route).

Not sure how to fit everything in around your kayak timeslot? See the course planners guide for one way (a suggestion of how) you could do this.

The maximum time allowed for the kayaking is 60 mins. You must be off the water BEFORE the end of your kayak timeslot - you will receive a 50 point penalty if you are not.

Entry Amendments

Any last minute team changes now need to be made on the day itself - just let the Quest Team know at the front desk before the Race Briefing.

Directions & Car Parking

The event base for this adventure race is Christ College Brecon, Bridge Street, Brecon, Powys, LD3 8AF - download directions.

The college is on the south side of B4601 (grid reference SO 042 284). Parking is in three different areas on the college campus. These will be filled in turn so follow signs / marshals instructions to the current entrance being used.

Car parking will be tight so we kindly ask that you share vehicles if possible and that teams come in / only bring one vehicle on site. Please park close to the vehicle next to you. Do not block any access routes. You may be directed to pull on to the grass to park but please do not drive across the grass.

If there are no spaces left on site, then you will need to park on the roads opposite. Parking is restricted on the B4601 so don't park along Bridge Street, but there should be room on Silver Street, Pen-Y-Fan Rd and other adjoining residential streets. If you end up parking on one of the neighbouring roads please park considerately so as not to cause an obstruction or upset the local residents - this means parking on the same side of the road to everyone else.

The map below shows where things are at the event base.

There was a problem with participants relieving themselves in the bushes at Christ College at an event earlier this year held by another race organiser. Such behaviour at the event base (Christ College) and/or the kayak transition point is completely unacceptable and won't be tolerated. There are no excuses. Anyone caught will be disqualified and won't be allowed to take any further part in the event. As well as being covered by CCTV, the owners of both premises live on site - they will be keeping a close watch on what goes on and reporting back to us.

Two sets of toilets will be open for you to use (see google map above). The toilets near the sports hall don't have many cubicles but do have two sets of urinals (one in the gents toilets and the other in the gents changing room). There are no urinals in the toilets near the sanatorium but there are plenty of cubicles.

On Arrival

Make your way to the event HQ in the Sports Hall (see map above).

Grab a bite to eat and drink from The Quest Kitchen

There is no registration - collect your team pack from around the edge of the hall at the appropriate time. These will be laid out in numerical order. If your team pack is not there or if you have paid for a T-shirt, come to the Front Desk to collect it.

Each team pack contains:
1 course map - printed on waterproof paper and pre-marked with all the available checkpoints
1 race number - to be worn by one member of each team (must be clearly visible)
4 safety pins - for attaching your race number
1 EMIT card - electronic scoring device
1 piece of cord - to secure your EMIT card
1 plastic wallet - to protect your map

You will be given the checkpoint descriptions and values (printed on waterproof paper) as you start.

At the appropriate time, attend the race briefing.

Before you start, put your bike in the transition area along with anything else you need during the race.

After the Race

Proceed immediately to the download station (in the sports hall). Remove the cord and hand in your EMIT card. You’ll receive a printout showing your total time and the checkpoints you visited. Check this carefully and let us know before the prize giving if any checkpoints you visited don't appear on your print out.

This print out will not show your score - these will be announced at the prize giving in the hall and put up on display afterwards.

Eating soon after you finish is proven to aid recovery. The Quest Kitchen team will be serving hot food & drinks just outside the sports hall.

Changing rooms and showers are available in the sports hall building if you wish to use them.

A medic will be on standby throughout the day. If you pick up any minor injuries do see them afterwards as prompt attention can aid rapid recovery.

Prizes are awarded to each person in the winning team, in each of the ten different race classes. There are up to £1000 worth of prizes to be won, thanks to the support from our event partners...
