Event Prices

 

One Day Events

  • questars Trio ( 3 stage race with mountain biking, trail running and kayaking)  - £42 per person 
  • questars Duo ( 2 stage race with mountain biking and trail running) - £36 per person 
  • Series discount - (available up to 31 Dec) 15% off normal price

Two Day Event

  • before 31 Jan 2010 - £79 per person
  • after 31 Jan 2010 - £89 per person

This price includes all the usual things you can expect at a one-day Questars plus two nights camping at the event campsite. An early bird discounted price of £79 is available until 31 January 2009. Thereafter the price will be £89 per person.

  • Waterproof map with pre-marked checkpoints  (extra maps can be pre ordered at £5 by adding a note to the comments box when you enter online)

  • Event base facilities including car parking, toilets, indoor space to prepare before and after the race and often showers too
  • On site paramedic safety cover
  • Permissions and risk assessments to allow access to some wonderful countryside
  • Water and sports drinks at transition points

 

What you NEED to bring

per person:

  • A well-maintained mountain bike
  • Cycle helmet

per team:

  • Bike tools (including puncture repair kit, pump and spare inner tube)
  • A first aid kit, emergency foil blanket and whistle
  • The mobile phone specified on your entry - carry this with you for emergency contact

 

What we ADVISE you to bring

  • A platypus or similar hydration system
  • Energy bars, gel or similar race food to eat en route
  • Wind and waterproof outer layers
  • Race clothing to provide layers to keep you warm including hat and gloves
  • Watch
  • Compass
  • Permanent marker pen

 

Team Numbers & Race Categories

  • Enter as a team of 4, 3, 2 or as a solo. The choice is yours
  • Within the questars Trio races there are 2 available levels (Novices for newcomers to adventure racing, and Masters)
  • Novices have 5 hours and Masters 6 hours to complete their race
  • Within each of these two levels of the questars Trio race there are the following five categories to choose (Mixed Teams, Mens Teams, Mens Solos, Ladies, Veterans  - where average age is over 40)
  • questars Duo is the eleventh race category for teams that prefer not to kayak

What happens next?

  • Your entry will be acknowledged via email
  • Final Details and Team Lists (detailing your start time and kayak time slot) are published on this website in the week prior to each questars

Entry requirements

  • You must be over 16 years old
  • Entrants aged 16 or 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult
  • You must be able to swim 100 meters for races involving kayaking (questars Trio)

 

Refunds & Transfer Policy

  • We are unable to provide refunds on entry payments
  • If you wish to transfer your race entry to a different race or amend your team composition or category, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  using subject title 'TRANSFERS' or 'TEAM AMENDMENT ' at least THREE WEEKS prior to the event.

Your Property

  • Adventure racing kit is valuable so keep it safe and secure, eg always bring a device to secure your bike at the bike transition point
  • Put any transition kit in a distinctive plastic bag or box but be aware if this is left in a transition zone it may not be secure
  • Always collect all your kit at the end of your race: double check you take all the items you brought with you home with you!
  • If you do leave anything at an event, you will be responsible for recovering it from the venue.
