New Forest Questars
In order to enable more people to take part in the New Forest Questars this year it's being run on two separate days. Saturday (27 March) is for more experienced adventure racers ie those who have taken part in two or more previous events. This Masters category have 6 hours to visit as many of the optional checkpoints as they can on foot, bike and if taking part in the Questars Trio race kayaking too. Saturday is also the day for Questars Duo teams who opt not to kayak.
Sunday (28 March) is for Novice adventure racers who'll be competing alongside fellow 'newbies'. The New Forest with its relatively flat terrain and well marked and drained cycleways is ideal for newcomers to adventure racing.
The kayaking stage on a beautiful stretch of the Beaulieu River will be a memorable highlight for many. The event base at Brockenhurst College is less than 5 minutes from the main line railway station. So how about coming adventure racing by train?
Places for this event are rapidly being taken up so if you wish to take part and haven't entered yet we'd suggest you do so here straight away in order to secure a place.
Q2 The Quest Challenge
We've just returned from visiting the Isle of Purbeck on a gloriously sunny winter's day and as ever are enthused by the prospect of hosting a new format weekend adventure race in this wonderful corner of England. A photo taken showing part of the course is on the right and a few more have been put on the Questars website here.
Whilst there is an event campsite provided alongside the event base you don't have to camp. You can stay locally at one of the many different accommodation options in nearby Corfe Castle, Studland, Wareham or Swanage. Links to the local tourist offices are on the Q2 The Quest Challenge race page. Whilst there are great facilities at the event base including showers you may wish to return to your accommodation between stages as there is enough time to do this if you wish.
The event is spread over 3 stages on Saturday 24 April and a further multi part stage on Sunday 25 April. Each stage will have a new twist to the well known Questars format and may well include some additional challenges alongside trail running, mountain biking and kayaking.
News of this event is spreading fast. Men's Fitness magazine has a two page feature article on it in their latest issue. So to be one of the teams that takes up the Quest Challenge, enter online here.
Other races in the 2010 Questars Series
In May we are returning to one of our favourite areas - the Brecon Beacons. With the Brecon Questars on Saturday 29 May you can make a long weekend of it as its a bank holiday on Monday 31st.
In July Questars is exploring a new area in the Home Counties. The Chiltern Hills just north of London offer some great terrain for adventure racing with wooded hillsides, lots of route choices and a great section of the Grand Union canal for some fast kayaking.
The final Questars event in 2010 on Saturday 11 September is in Cannock Chase just north of Birmingham. Long a mecca for mountain bikers the Chase has many surprises in stall including some wonderful open heathland, wide views and surprisingly varied countryside.
Quest team up with TrackLogs

We will be using the latest TrackLogs digital mapping software to create Questars maps for each race this year.
We've found the software very easy to use and first results show a notable improvement on the quality of map produced, which we're sure you'll like. Read more...
Series Leaderboard Changes
Questars are pleased to announce that the criteria which teams must satisfy in order to qualify for a series ranking has been relaxed slightly.
Now teams can change team members between races and their scores will still count towards a series ranking so long as at least one team member competes in all the qualifying races i.e. at least 3 races.
This change comes into place with immediate effect. Read more...
