Purbeck, Dorset
Known as Q2 The Quest Challenge this new weekend event is based in the wonderful Purbeck area of Dorset and will include an event campsite at the event base.
Like the one day Questars, Q2 The Quest Challenge is designed to appeal to all comers from complete novices to the most experienced adventure racers. There'll be a great deal of choice as to the distances and routes taken to enable everyone to set their own level of challenge. There’ll be rest and recovery time between the various parts that will comprise this multi stage event.
Expect some novel innovations, new formats and challenges. These will be combined with some great mountain biking, trail running and kayaking over some tremendous terrain offering great variety and views.
Quest is greatly looking forwards to creating Q2 The Quest Challenge. This new event format will appeal to adventure racers of all levels and to corporate teams looking for a fresh challenge.
Event base & facilities :
Q2 The Quest Challenge is based at Burnbake, Rempstone, Corfe Castle
BH20 5JH in the wonderful Isle of Purbeck in deepest Dorset.
The event base and camp site is adjacent to a permanent campsite that offers showers, washing facilities, toilets and a shop. Its ideally located in a remote corner of Purbeck and affords direct access into some great forest and heathland terrain. The chalk and limestone ridges are closeby as is Poole Harbour.
You don't have to camp if you don't wish to. There are lots of altenative accommodation options locally - see below.
Catering will be on site to provide participants with meals, drinks and refreshments throughout the weekend.
Provisional event timings :
Friday : Event base and campsite opens at 1800
Saturday : Those not camping arrive in time for Team Pack Collection at 1000
Event Briefing 1020 - 1040
Stage 1 : 1100 - 1330 including biking and kayaking
Rest and recovery 1330 - 1500
Stage 2 : 1500 - 1730 including trail running and various challenges
Rest and recovery 1730 - 2100
Stage 3 : 2100 - 2215 a night running stage with a few surprises en route
Sunday : Team Pack Collection at 0800
Event Briefing 0820 - 0840
Stage 4 : 0900 - 1400 run, bike and kayak - play to your strengths and keep alert for some extra challenges
Results, Prize Giving and departure : 1430
Final details of this event including Team Lists, Start Times and other specific information will be posted onto the Questars website Noticeboard here and sent to teams by email in the week prior to the event.
Race Price & Entry :
Q2 The Quest Challenge's price includes all the usual things you can expect at a Questars plus two nights camping at the event campsite. Car parking is also included. An early bird discounted price of £79 is available until 31 January 2009. Thereafter the entry fee will be £89 per person. Enter as a team of 4, 3, 2 or as a solo. The choice is yours!

Bike hire :
Bikes for this race can be hired locally. Further details will be posted here nearer to the time of the event to enable you to arrange bike hire if needed.
Accommodation :
Camping at the event base on both Friday and Saturday is included in the event price. Parking, drinking water, toilets and space to pitch tents is provided. You will need to bring your own camping equipment i.e. tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat etc. We aim to have onsite catering facilities and there are plenty of places to eat out in the surrounding area so you don’t need to bring cooking equipment unless you want to. More details will be put up on this page nearer the time.
If you do not wish to camp then there are alot of alternative accommodation options in nearby Corfe Castle, Swanage or Studland. The length of time between stages enables teams to return to their local accommodation during Saturday and overnight.
